In honor of St. Patrick, I wanted to show some green, and what better way than to repost a chart showing the S&P 500 with the 12-month simple moving average (SMA) percent above and below the buy/sell signal.
We've been in the green since July of last year, a welcome relief from the shocking abyss of red that lasted for 19 months beginning in December 2007.
Of course, if you followed this timing signal for an S&P 500 ETF (or anything remotely comparable), your portfolio today is a lot greener than it would have been otherwise.
Fingers crossed that the green continues!
PS: For newcomers to dshort.com, check out the Moving Average monthly update for some background on this investment strategy. The page is updated monthly and the latest version is always available from the Market Timing link in the header menu.
