Well this made my day:
| Advisor Perspectives, a leading publisher serving financial advisors and the financial advisory community, today announced its first Venerated Voices™ awards, recognizing the market commentators who were most frequently read by advisors during 2010. Awards were issued in three categories: The Top 25 Venerated Voices™ by Firm, The Top 25 Venerated Voices™ by Author and The Top 10 Venerated Voices™ by Commentary. More... |
Imagine my surprise and delight to find Doug Short in the first two categories, among such names as Rob Arnott, Jeremy Grantham, Bill Gross, John Hussman, John Mauldin, David Rosenberg, Nouriel Roubini, and my recent virtual acquaintance Jeff Miller of NewArc Investments.
On a personal note, I started my dshort.com website in late 2005, about six months before my retirement from a multi-faceted professional career that began in 1969. The website has become a core focus of my life — a life that has undergone some major changes during the past five years, during which my wife and I have experienced the death of three of our four parents but gained a precious granddaughter.
Since launching this website, I've been posting articles from a primary residence that has changed from Raleigh NC, Paoli PA, Myrtle Beach SC — interspersed with a few months of residence in Paris (France, not Texas). I've accompanied my travelholic wife on numerous trips that have had me searching out Internet access in London, Prague, Rome, Montpellier, and way too many places in the US to remember (except for this unforgettable snapshot from Kauai that I posted in 2009).
At this point in my life cycle, I try to treasure every moment — which tomorrow will include the removal of 15 stitches from my cheek following some surgery caused by too much "fun in the sun" growing up in Florida the '50s and '60s. "Papa, Is that a caterpillar on your cheek?" asked my two-year old granddaughter yesterday. Not a question I'll soon forget.
Thanks to all who frequent my website. If you experience a fraction of the personal sense of value it has given me over the past five years, I'll be most gratified.
