Chris comments: The S&P 500 index closed at 1,101 on Friday. When was the last time the 500 index closed at this level?

Some might say September of 2008 and they would be correct. If you said April of 1998, you would also be correct.

Which is more important in the big picture?

The media helps us get caught up in the minute-to-minute, day-to-day pricing of this index.

I thought it was worth a trip down memory lane as we start a new month and the index finds itself close to the mid-range of this 12-year channel.
